Old Market Square
The Old Market Square (Stary Rynek) in Poznań was originally formed in the 13th century. Today, it is a popular city location visited by tourists and locals alike.
Historic buildings around the Old Market Square include the Town Hall with its famous display of mechanical fighting goats, a monument of a Bamberger woman, the Town Scales, the Garrison and the palace of the Górka family.
The Old Market Square in Poznań is the third largest historic market square in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country.
Apart from its historic architecture, the Old Market Square features many restaurants and clubs, and is, from time to time, a stage for numerous events, such as street fairs, concerts, dance shows, and other shows by performing artists.
Lake Malta
With its many attractions aimed not only at Poznań residents but also visitors, Lake Malta is a great place to visit.
Thanks to its location, Lake Malta is a very popular venue for active recreation. Many sporting events take place here, such as canoeing competitions, marathons and other races. In summer it hosts the Malta International Theatre Festival; in winter it attracts winter sports fans to a sleigh course, a seasonal skating rink and a ski slope (which is also open in summer). In the eastern part of the Malta complex is the New Zoo which you can get to from the Śródka roundabout on the Maltanka narrow-gauge railway. There is also the Galeria Malta shopping mall, a summer cinema, a mini-golf course and driving range and MaltaBike bicycle rental, open in the summer season. With all it has to offer, you can visit Malta any time of the year and never get bored.
